SAFETY RULES

1- Know how to swim

2- Never surf alone. Respect other users, remain courteous and attentive to others at all times.

3- Observe the ocean and surf conditions to check they are suitable for your skill level and the equipment used.

4- Monitor the weather (no surfing during thunderstorms…).

5- Respect surf zones (black & white chequered flags) and identify potential hazards: rocks, rip currents (baïnes), shorebreak. Identify swimming zones (yellow & red striped flags) so as not to enter them while surfing.

6- Always surf with a leash in good condition. Wearing a helmet is recommended, especially for children and in crowded areas. If I’m a beginner, I choose a foam board with soft fins.

7- Protect your head and face in case of a fall or collision with another surfer. The neoprene wetsuit helps “limit” the impact of cold and possible collisions.

SPOTTING BAÏNES

Baïnes are pools of water formed between the beach and sandbanks, very common on the Landes coast. When the tide comes in, they can create strong rip currents out to sea capable of quickly dragging swimmers away. If caught in a baïne, stay calm, do not fight the current and swim parallel to the beach to get out.

HYGIENE MEASURES

All our surf lessons are given in compliance with current hygiene regulations. Equipment (wetsuits and rash vests) is washed and disinfected between each lesson using a bactericidal and virucidal disinfectant product
